Bostleman's Key Differential: Our Core Values

  • Our Word is Our Bond
  • We are First Class
  • We Have High Concern for Employee Well-Being
  • Community Service
  • Owner's Best Interest

It has recently become fashionable for companies to talk about their Core Values.  At Bostleman Corp., we have actually lived our Core Values for over 50 years.  We put them into writing several years ago -- well before it became trendy.  Core Values are mere platitudes and valueless unless they are applied to day-to-day business decisions.  The integrity of Core Values becomes reality when a company has to choose between two paths:  one path that is in accordance with its stated Core Values, and another path that is not in accordance with its Core Values, but which is more financially lucrative.  At Bostleman, we choose the Core Values path, not the financially lucrative path.  In the end, we find that we can still be financially successful -- and we can sleep at night.

For example, we applied our Core Values when a major health care client asked us to construct a second brand-new hospital concurrently with the new hospital we were already constructing for that client.  At that time, we had committed many of our resources to the first hospital and if we had taken on the second hospital, we could not have guaranteed that we would fulfill our Core Value of "Our Word Is Our Bond" with respect to a first-class completion of the project.  Also, we would have stretched our employees so far that their well-being would have been adversely affected.  So, we declined the second hospital despite the financial temptation and the fact that it would have been a major feather in our cap.  That's the kind of tough decisions we make every day and the kind of integrity you can expect from us on your project.
